Five for Friday: nErD Camp, Freebie, and More

Check out this week's Five for Friday linky!

1

Vacation - I got to go on my first vacation of summer this week!  Today was my first day being home the entire day.  While it's fun to go on vacation, I did miss my bed.  Check out some pics from my trip.

I love going to Michigan and hanging out at the beach!

nErD Camp - I am still processing all the information I learned at nErD Camp!  It was an incredible experience, one that I would highly recommend!  Click HERE to visit their website.  If you click on Day One or Day Two, there are tons of resources from all of the workshops.  My plan is to really look at some of them in detail and make some plans to try new things this upcoming school year.  As the plans come together, I will share what does and doesn't work.

Donnalyn Miller - One of the author sessions I attended was by Donnalyn Miller, author of The Book Whisperer!  I cannot even express how excited I was to see her.  In the presentation I went to she talked about classroom diversity in books.  I am embarrassed to say that I was unfamiliar with all the books she mentioned.  Needless to say, my books to buy list has grown exponentially!  Click on my affiliate link to check out The Book Whisperer!

I just downloaded the audio version of this book, so I can listen to it again and again!

Children's Authors - A huge part of nErD camp was connecting you with children's authors.  Here are some of my affiliate links with my favorites that were there.

Meeting Kate DiCamillo was incredible.  Enough said!

My students got really into graphic novels this past school year.  I have one student in particular that will be jealous she didn't get to meet this author!

This author was very down to earth and friendly.  This book was one that kept getting brought up by others throughout the camp.  I am looking forward to reading this one.

I got this one signed to give as a gift to my new niece or nephew.  It's too cute!  I also hope to set up an author Skype this school year with this author.

Freebie - This week, the freebie is Because of Winn-Dixie Bundle.  I chose it in honor of meeting Kate DiCamillo!

It contains the entire Reading Skills Packet, Differentiated Spelling Packet, and Weekly Take Home Letters.  It's aligned to Scott Foresman Reading Street.  Fourth grade teachers, it's the first story, ready to go when you get back to school.  Click the pic below to take you to it.

Hurray!  This freebie is only good until Sunday, July 17th at midnight!

P.S. Check out my old blog HERE to see all your favorite posts.
